This Thursday I am thankful for...

1) Anonymous love.  Last week we received an anonymous contribution towards our adoption.  The inscription on the inside was so simple, yet so encouraging... "Loving is expensive.  For your adoptive friends."

2) Urgent Care Centers.  I was having symptoms of a UTI yesterday and I knew I needed to get some antibiotics to make sure it didn't turn into anything more serious (i.e. a kidney infection... worst pain I've ever experienced).  Since I didn't get home from work until 8:00pm yesterday, I was super thankful to find an urgent care center that was open.  Regardless of my 2+ hour wait, I'm extremely thankful for the  nurses and doctors that likely worked a much longer day than me, and I'm grateful to have a prescription waiting for me.

3) Unicorn mail.  I mean... freakin' seriously.  Who wouldn't be thankful for unicorn mail?  I have this friend, who, for whatever reason, refuses to have a cell phone.  I'm always giving her a hard time about not being able to text her and blah, blah, blah... but then I received my very own paper text message with a UNICORN on it.  A unicorn.  Done.  No cell phone needed... from here on out I only want unicorn mail... period, the end.

This Thursday I am thankful for...

1) Awesome weather.  The weather this week has pretty much been amazing.  It has been in the 70's almost every day... clear, gorgeous and sunny.  You can smell fall just around the corner.  Windows are down, AC is off.  It's pretty much perfect.

2) Quality time with the girls.  Between working late and traveling, I haven't seen the chickens much lately.  But this weekend I made sure to spend a little QT with them.  They are so funny... incredibly entertaining actually.  They have been keeping our fridge fully stocked with eggs too... and for that, I'm super grateful.

3) Nursery inspiration.  I probably daydream about what this room will look like far more than I should.  But I think it's going to be beautiful.  Still have A LOT of work to do... but that's okay.  It will all come together.  I'm dreaming of a fun little fabric banner in navy and pinks:)

This Thursday I am thankful for...

1) Beach day.  There's just something about the sand between your toes and the sound of the ocean waves that does my soul good.  This past Sunday I was able to visit Virginia Beach for the first time and it was amazing.

2) Pink denim.  I love colored denim... and hotel selfies... obviously.  I'm pretty pumped about my new pink jeans... I'm not, however, pumped about the fact that I now have pink underwear too.  Guess I should pay more attention to that whole "wash before wearing" tag... whoopsies.

3) Home sweet home.  After 5 days of travel, I'm beyond excited to be home.  I'm thankful to be sleeping in my own bed and back to some kind of routine.  And I'm super thankful to be back home with my hubby:)

This Thursday I am thankful for...

1) Tomatoes.  The tomatoes have been coming in steadily the past few weeks.  We have a counter full of them right now.  There's just something about homegrown tomatoes.  I've been loving them in my salads... by themselves... with mozzarella... and with bacon.  Mmmm.  We've been eating bacon and tomato sandwiches like it's our job around here.

2) Work trip.  I'm heading to Chesapeake, VA for a work trip the next several days.  I'll be honest, my initial response wasn't gratitude.  I didn't want to be gone from my husband on the weekend, and there's so much I want to work on in the nursery... But you know what?  I'm thankful I get to travel this week.  I get to visit a city that I've never been to... maybe even make a pit stop at Virginia Beach... I'll get to meet some new co-workers... and I secretly love hotel stays.  Besides, I'm starting to realize that my quiet alone time is very, very limited in the coming days:)

3) A bowl full of love.  Over the past couple of months, we have received so much love, support, and encouragement from so many friends and family in regards to our adoption.  Seriously.  So much.  I've been saving all of the cards and notes and letters... I've been tucking them away in a bowl in baby girl's room.  That bowl is practically overflowing.  I can't even tell you how happy this makes me.  I love that one day, our daughter will be able to see this giant pile of cards and letters and she will know.  She will know how incredibly loved and adored she is... always.

This Thursday I am thankful for...

1) My Pop.  He's awesome.  This past Tuesday was his birthday... 83rd to be exact.  Looks pretty sharp, doesn't he?  He's the whole reason this Thankful Thursday bit even started on my blog.  Yep.  True story.  He's the best.  Happy, happy birthday Pop.  I love you!

2) Blue shoes.  Meet my new favorite shoes.  They are some German brand that I can't pronounce and are seriously the most comfortable shoes ever.  I'm only sad we didn't meet sooner.

3) Adoption updates... and new pictures!!!!  Yep.  I can hardly handle it.  Last Friday we received some updates on our baby girl and even 2 new pictures.  She's standing.  It's crazy how different she already looks.  The photos only make me yearn to bring her home that much faster.  Nevertheless... so, so thankful for updates on our sweet baby girl.

This Thursday I am thankful for...

1) Mini frapuchinos.  I mean, seriously... how cute, no?  Last week at Target I got this adorable mini sample of Starbuck's new vanilla frapuchino.  It was delish.  I think I'll be ordering the full size version next time:)

2) Fresh veggies.  Tis the season for fresh summer veggies!!  Our tomatoes are coming in at full force, we have tons of fresh Indiana corn, and plenty of squash and zucchini... which means lots of yummy salads, tomato and bacon sandwiches, and veggie omelets:)  I pretty much put corn in everything these days.

3) A CRIB!!!  That's right!!  The crib is here and up!!  Lance put the crib together a few weeks ago and I'm in love.  There are plenty of other things we hope to do in the nursery soon, but to know that our sweet baby girl has a bed makes my heart so happy.

This Thursday I am thankful for...

Generous, generous love from friends and family.  As Lance and I have been rasing funds for our adoption, I continue to be amazed every.single.day. at the incredible generosity of others.  This entire process has been extremely humbling for both Lance and I (in so many ways)... specifically financially.  I am still so surprised and humbled when I get an email notifying us of an Etsy sale... friends that we haven't talked to in years are reaching out asking how they can be a part of our adoption... people that we don't even know are praying for us... we have received checks in the mail, from friends near and far... Honestly, I don't think I will ever be able to put our gratefulness into words.  It's this love that is helping to bring our baby girl home... and that generosity continues to amaze me day after day.  Thank you.  Thank you.  Thank you.

This Thursday I am thankful for...

1) Front porch deliveries.  Specifically ones that come in really big heavy boxes from Babies 'R' Us!!!  That's right, you guessed it... that giant box contains our baby girl's crib!!!  And thanks to Gigi and HayHay we have already received both the crib AND the dresser that we registered for!  I am beyond stoked to get these upstairs and set up in our sweet girl's room.

2) Pink spray paint.  Speaking of her room... I'm having to show some serious self-control so I don't spray paint everything pink... no, really.  I'm in love with this Valspar color and we all know how I feel about spray paint...

3) This man.  I am so thankful that I am able to journey through this whole process with him.  I look forward to parenting with him.  I know he will be the most incredible father, and I feel completely blessed that I get to witness it all.

This Thursday I am thankful for...

1) Handmade cuteness.  Like, seriously.  Are these not the ABSOLUTE cutest outfits you have ever seen?!?!  And they were handmade by a friend of mine that I went to high school with.  HANDMADE PEOPLE.  These arrived very unexpectedly in my mailbox last Thursday, and it was such a delightful surprise.  I started crying when I saw baby girl's name actually on something.  Once again, the "realness" of it all hit me like a tidal wave.  And don't even get me started on those bloomers...

2) Milkshakes at work.  Nothing helps you get through the work day like an afternoon strawberry milkshake.  Last week our plant manager bought everyone in the office milkshakes and it was the perfect pick-me-up to a super busy day.  Sometimes it's the smallest things.

3) Getting home before dark.  The beginning of every month is always my busiest for work... which often means working until 8:00 and 9:00 at night.  So, I always love those first few days when things start to slow down enough for me to leave the office at a much more normal hour... aka, daylight.  I don't know what I'm going to do in the winter...

This Thursday I am thankful for...

1) Family reunion shenanigans.  We spent this past weekend in Georgia for Lance's family reunion... and these people don't mess around.  There were about 70 family members in all, ranging from ages 3 to 86.  We pretty much eat and laugh all weekend and play ridiculous games (hence, the above photo).  Never a dull moment, I tell ya.  Full post coming soon:)

2) Road trips with this guy.  Lance and I decided to take the long way home on Sunday... we detoured deep into the Appalachains.  Curvy mountain roads... windows rolled down... fresh produce stands... amazing weather... yummy dinner... and the best company a girl could ever ask for:)

3) Georgia peaches and a new book.  We brought home some Georgia peaches from our above mentioned road trip and they.are.divine.  Nothing beats a Georgia peach.  I also recently picked up Mindy Kaling's book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (and other concerns)... I've only read the first 20 pages or so and I'm already laughing out loud... so hilarious.

This Thursday I am thankful for...

1) God's provision.  Lance and I continue to be amazed at how the Lord continues to provide for us every step of the way through this adoption process.  This week we needed to send in approximately $6,000 in various adoption fees... which happens to be almost exactly how much we have brought in so far with our fundraising efforts.  We are over 20% of our total goal already.  So amazed by the generosity of His people.

2) Cooler weather.  Yesterday the high in Louisville was 80 degrees.  It.was.incredible.  For a second I almost thought it was fall.  I promise I'm not wishing away summer... but if we could get a few more days with these cooler temps, that would be awesome.

3) Dossier DONE.  I think for real this time.  We are mailing in a few more last minute documents and our dossier payment fees TODAY.  This means that our paperwork should be going out to Uganda NEXT WEEK people.  This makes me very, very happy.
