weekend festivities...

We kicked the weekend off with a little visit to the doctor to finish up Zara's immunizations...
(this picture was pre-shots... obviously)

...then Friday night included a little stroll down to our favorite pub & eatery...

...where we celebrated a dear friend's birthday...

 ...which eventually turned into this...
(see that 117 score??  yeah... that's me... I'm awesome)

...Saturday's weather was absolutely glorious... loads and loads of sunshine...

...Zara and I soaked up the sun and scarfed down some french fries... It was pretty much perfect...

...Lately little bug loves to help mama "do dishes??"...

...Sunday was a very special day for us... we dedicated Zara to the Lord.  She is such a gift from God and we are forever grateful...

...Our weekend was pretty dang awesome... how about yours??

weekend festivities

This weekend was a blur.  But a good blur.  It was filled with new friends... new cities... new drinks... new books... and new co-workers...  I spent most of my weekend (and will spend most of my week) in Virginia for work... but I was able to sneak off to Virginia Beach on Sunday... which made working all day Saturday almost worth it:)  Overall... a great weekend...

...beers with the girls on Thursday night...

...planes, trains, and automobiles all day Friday...

...unpacked and settled in Friday night...

...spent Sunday seaside at Virginia Beach (so, so fabulous)...

...closed out a perfect beach day with a Waterman's orange crush...

Really, I couldn't have asked for better.  I may have spent all day Saturday working and counting inventory... but I'll work a thousand Saturdays if they are all followed up with Sunday beach days:)

What about you?  What did you do this weekend?

weekend festivities

Sigh... oh, how I love 3-day weekends.  They make me so happy.  I think we need more of them. Who do I need to talk to about that??

My weekend festivities started a little early with a fun lunch visit from some of my favorites.  My office is in Southern Indiana (about 30 miles from Louisville) so any friends of mine that are willing to make the drive for a lunch date are pretty spectacular in my book.

Always love lunch dates with this little guy... his mom's pretty awesome too:)

Friday night Lance and I went to a concert where a couple of local bands were performing.  House Ghost and then No More Kings... pretty amazing.

Saturday we got all decked out for the most beautiful wedding ever.  Seriously.  I felt like I was right in the magazine pages of a Country Living farm wedding.  It was picturesque.

Then the bottom fell out and a ridiculous torrential downpour ensued.  It.was.insane.  There's just nothing quite like being corralled under a giant tent with 300 of your favorite people while you try to decide what stable object you should hold on to when the 65 mph winds come through.  No, really... this happened.

But it didn't faze the bride and groom one bit!!  This adorable couple just rolled with the punches... soaked to the bone, the smiles never left their faces.  They are such a joy and we are so thrilled for them as they start this journey together!!  Congrats Jason & Morgan!!

I spent the late hours of Saturday evening with Little Cat in the sweatshop making new jewelry for our Etsy shop.  I'm telling you... he's really not much help.  I should find a new assistant.

Sunday was pretty low-key, which was exactly what we were needing.  It involved an afternoon nap for Lance and some more creative time in the sweatshop for me.  Sunday night I hosted a girls night with some of my favorite girls and favorite snacks:)  It was fabulous.

Early Monday afternoon I met up with a girlfriend (Lance had to work) to catch the matinee showing of The Butler.  Excellent movie.  It was a pretty heavy storyline, but totally worth it.

The rest of Monday was spent cleaning house and tending to our tomatoes and chickens.  The tomatoes are plentiful and the girls are swell:)  Let's just say we've been eating lots of tomato sandwiches and scrambled eggs.

What about you?  How was your 3-day weekend?

weekend festivities {nashville edition}

This weekend involved a quick road trip down to Nashville, TN to see my very best friend since 3rd grade...

She and I go wayyyyy back... from barbies to cheerleading tryouts... from high school choir to college road trips... we've been through thick and thin and I was deliriously excited to see her.

But let's be honest... the real reason I traveled to Nashville was to see this little guy.  Jack.  Aka, the cutest little dude I've ever seen.  Those blue eyes will simply steal your heart.  The last time I visited Nashville was for Christi's baby shower... so it was high time for me to finally meet little Jack.  I was sure to give him plenty of Auntie Julia kisses:)

Christi and I also made sure to get some grown-up time on the weekend agenda too... nothing says grown-up time like brunch and bloody mary's, no?  It was my first time eating at Mack & Kate's in Franklin, TN and I'm a major fan.

We also headed out to a fun little event, Red, White & Brew... hosted by the Community Foundation of Nashville.  I'm always game for a "battle of the food trucks" event... seriously... brilliant.

Saturday night was spent by ordering pizza and watching Pitch Perfect (aka, probably my absolute favorite movie right now)... Christi hadn't seen it yet, which I deemed a major travesty.

But no doubt, this little man stole the show this weekend.  Ridiculously cute.  Can hardly handle it.

What about you?  What did you do this weekend??

weekend festivities {babies & rock'n'roll}

This past weekend was spectacular.  It was filled with productivity and spontaneity all in one...

Friday night I finally got to meet sweet baby Rowan... and he did not disappoint.  He is simply precious.  Now... if I can just convince his mama and daddy to not move away to France this year...

On Saturday Lance and I made a last minute decision to head over to Louisville's own music festival, Forecastle... and we were SO glad we did.  So many great bands all in one place.

We listened to Mona, The Alabama Shakes, Joy Formidable, Matt & Kim, and The Black Keys.  I've always been a fan of Joy Formidable, and the lead singer is perfection.  She's this tiny little thing with an incredible voice... and she smashed her guitar at the end of the concert... which was totally awesome.

Then we headed over to the Red Bull stage for Matt & Kim.  BEST.LIVE.SHOW.EVER.  They were incredibly entertaining.  Lance and I have both been fans of their music for a while now... but after seeing them live, I'm slightly obsessed.  And Kim's the drummer... which makes her a badass in my book.  So, so good.

Forecastle is hosted every year at the Waterfront in Louisville... and Saturday's weather provided the absolute best backdrop ever.  We had a stunning sunset overlooking the Ohio River... gorgeous.

We had a relaxing Sunday morning with fresh eggs and veggies... oh, and some burnt breakfast sausage patties... oops.  Good thing the eggs tasted good:)

Then, probably the highlight of our weekend was adoption paperwork.  For any of you that have been following along in our adoption journey know that I've shed more than a few tears over the amount of adoption paperwork we have.  It's insane.  But we are so, so close.  Yesterday we met with a friend's mom who agreed to notarize all of our documents... and she did... all.bleepin'.ninty-six.of.them.  I kid you not.  That was not an over exaggeration.  We notarized 96 documents yesterday.  But, good news... we are mailing out our dossier this week!!!!

So yes.  All in all I'd say we had an absolutely spectacular weekend.

How about you??

weekend festivities

This weekend...

...Litte Cat went missing...
It was catastrophic.  Thursday morning Little Cat went MIA... I didn't start freaking out until Saturday... which is also when I made these fancy signs.

...we ate our first egg sandwich...
With our very own fresh backyard eggs.  And they were delicious.  You really can tell a difference, swear.

...on Saturday Little Cat was still missing...
And this was about when I started losing it.  I went to the animal shelter Saturday morning... BIG MISTAKE.  If you ever just need a really good cry, go to your local animal shelter.

...I played an intense game of Mexican Train...
Yep, our dinner parties consist of dominos, wine and baby monitors.  Don't be fooled, people were dancing on the table right after this picture.  I kid, I kid.

...yet another friend moved away...
Our dear friends Bekah and Andrew packed their bags and left for NYC this weekend.  We celebrated with good food, lots of laughing, snow cones, and mexican train.  It was bittersweet.  You will be missed B.

...Little Cat came home...
YAY!!!  LC made his way home late Saturday night... you know, right after I put up all of our signs... He came inside and ran straight to his food and water and seemed pretty hot.  We think he might have been trapped in someone's garage or something.  Regardless, we are SO GLAD he is home.

...I busted out the spray paint...
I forgot how much I love spray painting projects... such instant gratification.  More on this project later though:)

What about you??  Anything exciting this weekend??
