A long time ago, I did an ode to our favorite house in Georgia, with a top 10 list to express our love for the first home that we built. I thought I would stick with the top 10 theme and create a list for this house too... I actually like the idea of doing something similar for every house that we live in... and maybe creating some type of "home is where the heart is" album? I'll keep you posted on that.
This past year in Louisville, we rented an adorable little guest house in a pretty swanky neighborhood. It was perfect for our first year in Louisville, as we learned our way around town and adjusted to our new seminary lifestyle. We really loved living in the "little house" (as we affectionately called it) and will miss some of it's perks as we move on to our next home. We have recently moved out of the "little house," but here are the top 10 things we loved about the our first Louisville home...
1) Those blue walls. I loved the color of the living room walls... and I loved that they were like that when we moved in... such a happy blue.
2) The Ohio River.
Our street was literally right off the Ohio River... definitely one of my favorite things about this house. We had breathtaking views and sunsets everyday as we drove to and from the house.
3) No yard work.
I mean, need I say more? No lawn mowing... no weed pulling... no snow shoveling...
4) Window wildlife.
I had the best office view ever. Practically every other day I would see deer munching on the bushes just outside my window. I also had some turkeys visit a few days... and don't forget my run in with Mr. Bird.
5) The spiral stairs.
I had a love/hate relationship with the spiral staircase. I loved them because they were adorable and I always thought it would be cool to have spiral stairs... but then I realized they are only cool to look at... that's it. I have no idea how I made it up and down those stairs every day without toppling over. Little Cat, on the other hand, was a huge fan of the stairs. He would sit up top and wait for you to come back around on the stairs so he could swat at your head... sneaky little fella.
6) The storage unit... I mean, garage.
We could not have moved into the little house if it weren't for the garage. We had A LOT of stuff when we moved to Louisville... and you see... the little house is called the "little" house for a reason. We needed every ounce of storage space we could get.
7) Our landlords.
We were lucky to have great landlords that lived in the main house. We really enjoyed getting to know them better, whether it was out by the pool or while watching some college football.
8) Two bathrooms.
As in, two FULL bathrooms. We didn't realize what a luxury this was until we moved into our current house with one bathroom. One-very-small-bathroom.
9) Awesome shelf/closet space.
The little house came with a fabulous closet downstairs... fully equipped with tons of shelf space... something I am missing in the new rental.
10) The pool.
I really don't feel like further explanation is necessary on this one. We had a pool.

What a wonderful little house! Hope your new one is just as pleasent!
A wonderful "little house"...but I know the new one is going to steal your heart, too. (I mean, a beautiful staircase--that's NOT spiral-- that sweet fireplace, the beautiful wood floors, the nice kitchen...) And if it makes you feel any better, we only have one bathroom in this apartment and the only place for a guest to sleep is the couch! So, your house COULD be smaller. :)
Mmm .... I'm jealous of the pool! Are you still here in Louisville?
Little Cat swatting at my head kinda terrifies me.
I am glad you have such happy memories in Louisville already.
I think I love your living room rug. We just bought a new one at Garden Ridge. Who knew you would pay so much money for something you walk on??? Luckily, GR had some great ones for a fraction of the price.
wow, what a great house, and you got some awesome pictures! I hope to have a nice place like that someday. :)

Oh my, do I ever love those blue walls too! :-) It really was a perfect little house! Although, growing up, my best friend's house had a spiral staircase and I agree. They aren't the most convenient thing!
What a lovely list! Loving #4! Enjoy the wonderful weekend, Kellie xx
